1. What This App Does

WhatsAppFormatter is a utility app that helps you format text for use in WhatsApp and similar messaging apps. It provides formatting shortcuts for bold, italic, strikethrough, monospace, and other styles supported by WhatsApp's markup syntax.

All formatting is performed entirely on your device (on-device processing). Your text is never sent to our servers.

2. Information We Collect

We collect very limited information:

• Message Content: We do not collect, read, store, or transmit any text you type or paste into the app. All text processing happens locally on your device and is never sent to us.
• Usage Analytics (Optional): If you opt in, we may collect anonymised, aggregated usage statistics such as which formatting features are used most often, app version, device OS version, and crash reports. This data contains no personally identifiable information.
• Device Information: Basic device type and OS version may be included in crash reports to help us fix bugs.
• Account Information: If the app offers a sign-in or sync feature, we collect only your email address or sign-in provider identity (e.g., Google). This is optional.

3. How We Use Your Information

The limited data we may receive is used only to:

• Fix crashes and improve app stability.
• Understand which features are most useful (using anonymised analytics).

• Notifications: Optional, used only to remind you of saved templates or tips if you enable this feature.

No access to your contacts, camera, microphone, location, or files is requested.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your formatted text and drafts are stored only on your local device unless you explicitly use a cloud sync feature. If cloud sync is used:

• Data is encrypted in transit using TLS/HTTPS.
• Data is encrypted at rest using AES-256.
• Only you can access your synced templates and settings.

We do not have access to the content of your messages at any time.

6. Sharing of Information

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties, except:

• Analytics Providers: Anonymised, aggregated crash and usage data may be processed by services such as Firebase Crashlytics or similar, solely for app improvement.
• Legal Requirements: If required by applicable law or legal process.

Your message content is never shared with anyone — it never leaves your device.

7. Third-Party Services

The app is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to WhatsApp Inc. or Meta Platforms. "WhatsApp" is a trademark of WhatsApp LLC. WhatsAppFormatter simply formats text that you can manually copy and paste into WhatsApp or any other app.

If the app uses third-party SDKs (e.g., Firebase for crash reporting), those services have their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review them.

8. Data Retention

• Local data (templates, preferences) is stored on your device until you uninstall the app or clear app data.
• If you use cloud sync, your data is retained until you delete your account.
• Anonymised crash report data is typically retained for 90 days by the analytics provider.

9. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Opt out of analytics: Disable analytics collection in the app's settings at any time.
• Delete your account: If you created an account, you can delete it and all associated data from within the app settings.
• Access your data: Request a summary of any account-related data we hold.
• Correction and erasure: Request correction or deletion of your personal data.

10. Children's Privacy

WhatsAppFormatter is a general-purpose utility app available to users of all ages where the platform allows. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your region). If you believe a child has submitted personal information through the app, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.
